We are often told that we should stay positive and keep our eyes on the bright side or focus on the silver lining, specifically when things aren't going that great. Yet, there isn't much detail on how to change the way we are thinking and turn that frown upside down. Here are 6 ways that will certainly help you so that you can change your thoughts from Negative to Positive.
1. Be Grateful
Being grateful or showing gratitude is a very powerful gift that many over look. I love this old saying “be grateful for one thousand things each day”. When you start changing the way you “look” at different situations all of a sudden you see a different angle.
Everyday search for things in our day to be grateful for. Scientific research has just started to advise the exact same thing. When you can start recognizing things that you are grateful for each day, it will assist you to change your mindset to see the positive points quicker.
2. Recognize Your Negative Thoughts
Have you been told you need to “pay attention” to your breathe or your mind? This is Mindfulness. When you use breathing as a way of being Mindful it can help regulate tension, yet when you utilize mindful thoughts, this can result in living a more positive lifestyle. Many of us take our thoughts for granted, but even as they float through your mind you can use them to make a difference.
There have been studies that when we pay more attention to what thoughts we're having throughout the day it can be easier to shake off the negative thoughts and focus on the positive.
3. Present Positive Thoughts
The Mayo Clinic explains how our thoughts can make us feel negativity like anger and stress when we are not paying close attention to them, we also have the power to have positive thoughts that can change the way we see different situations and how we feel. One of the most powerful tools you can use is having the ability to replace negative thoughts from our subconscious with positive thoughts from our conscious mind.
“The staff at the Mayo Clinic also points out, however, that these thoughts still need to be practical for them to work. Ignoring the negative isn't thinking positive. Thinking positive is about making the best out of the worst that life gives us.”
4. Avoiding Negative People
It is often said that it's challenging for us to be positive when we are surrounded by negative people. So, what are you going to do? Remove all negative people from your life…NO! Just take a break while you're restructuring your mind. This will give you time to learn a new processes and not be effected by those who aren't where you are in your mindset.
5. Challenges As Opportunities
When a challenge is in your face and you feel stuck what do you do? STOP…You can't possible move forward when you have a brick wall in your face…right? WRONG! If you can start to look at those potential challenges or setbacks as opportunities to go in another direction you will find a way around, over, or through that wall.
When things don't go as we planned, in our own minds, we have the tendency to look at all our hard work as useless and not worth all the effort. Yet, in most cases, success is brought on from the hard work that is put in to reach our achievements.
6. Take Time For “YOU”
It is said over and over that many women spend countless hours on doing things for work and their family. Not that this isn't important, but it is VERY important that you also take time for YOU! When you take time for just “You Time”, reading a book, taking a bath, or going for a walk it has a way of creating more positive in your life and the way you are able to be available for your self, your family, and your work.
Having a mindset that keeps you focused on the positives in life with change your outlook and help you be a happier you. If you are always focusing on the wrong areas, then the negativity will sneak in and push out any “happy thoughts”. The bottom line here is it is really all up to you and only you. You're the controller of your mind.
